That's when I decided to make Sharkdog a coat. I set aside the 10 other things I was supposed to be doing to get ready for the weekend and got to work on the coat. After multiple measurements and fittings, Sharkdog was pretty tired and I couldn't convince him to stand up for the photos. And there was no way he was going to do a cute pose like the dog on the cover of this book. But I got a few nice photos.
The coat is reversible. I used green fleece on one side and the green cotton hippo fabric on the other side. There's a buttonhole on the back so that his leash can attach to his collar under the coat. That was Brian's idea. He's a clever one.

Sharkdog seems to like the coat. And I think Brian is a fan of the coat as well.

That's one handsome dog! I like the hippo side best myself.
nice work alisha!! and I see the fancy new computer in the background..nice as well.
That is so cute!
Candace stole the words right out of my mouth. My first thought certainly was "That is one attractive dog" Of course my second thought was "Did she really just do what I think she did?" Followed closely by "She is her mother's daughter" with her Don't have it?--must just make it attitude. Now that I've given a full rundown of my throught process, I only have one thing to say--you rock Alisha!
I am impressed! Nice work. Your resourcefulness continues to impress the heck out of me. I would have just duct taped a towel around him and called it good!
Please tell Sharkdog that I, also, think he looks exceptionally handsome in his new coat. Tell him he better not roll around in the mud while he's wearing it, it's much too cute to get all stained!
You go girl! Where's there's a will....there's a way. Now if you are really my daughter you stayed up all night making the coat the day before you needed it. Am I right?
Where did Brian's 'fur' go? I'm sure he had more hair when we were there last week. I hope he keeps that head covered in the mountains.
I'm glad Sharkdog's coat was such a big hit with everyone. He received a lot of positive comments over the weekend while he was wearing it. I'm sure you'll be able to see the coat in a few photos on either my blog or Sharkdog's blog in the next few days.
Gina - The coat did get dirty, but not as bad as I thought it might. Hopefully it will all come out in the wash.
Mom - I did make it the night before we left for the mountains, but I didn't stay up all night. And yes, Brian cut his hair a day or two after you left. He keeps it pretty short these days.
Buddy wanted to let Sharkdog know that he is VERY jealous of his new coat. He begged me to make him one to match, but I don't have the skills you have. He's pouting about it now. I hope it doesn't affect his self-esteem too much.
Buddy lives in Texas! Like that could allow him any self-esteem...or any need for a coat. I'm sure Satan keeps things nice and warm for you guys down there.
word verification: codug
While I don't agree that the temperature in Texas is at all related to Satan, I do agree that Buddy probably doesn't need a coat for Texas. But if you ever live in a colder climate, I'll make him a nice coat.
