Photohunt: Yellow

I haven't participated in Photohunt lately because I haven't been snapping as many photos as in the past. (You may have noticed that my Almost Daily Vienna Photo blog has been sorely neglected until recently.) But when I saw this week's theme one of my old photos instantly popped into my mind.

yellow fields

I took this photo in May of last year. Brian and I were on a train traveling from Vienna to Zagreb, Croatia. It was such beautiful weather and there was so much gorgeous scenery. We passed several fields full of this yellow flower, but I had no idea what it was. I found out later that it was rapeseed (canola).

I'm really looking forward to the flowers blooming soon. Happy spring!

Photohunt: Together

Imagine me and you, I do.
I think about you day and night. It's only right,
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together.

This is one of the first photos I took with my then-new camera. Brian and I were driving from Oklahoma to Texas and I was trying to figure out all of the features on the camera. I would change one of the settings, lean over and take a picture of me and Brian, then look at the photo to see what it looked like on that particular setting. I was playing with the exposure at this point, which is why this photo is over-exposed. In all of the previous photos, I was looking at the camera and Brian was looking straight ahead at the road. So imagine my surprise when I looked at this photo and was greeted by Brian's huge grin. It still makes me smile.

And speaking of things that make me smile, I couldn't resist posting a second photo this week. I'm pretty sure I've posted this one before, but it works so well for this theme.

Photohunt: Blue

I had a hard time picking between the photo below and this photo. But in the end, I had to go with the blue Danube.

Photohunt: Lazy

When I showed Brian the photo I was going to use for the theme lazy, he said, "That's not lazy, that's jet lag." And he's probably right. This photo was taken on July 4, 2007 -- three days after arriving in Vienna.

Photohunt: Sad

I spent last week at a women's retreat in a small Austrian village. While exploring the town one day, I noticed a boy leading a young goat into the middle of a pasture and tying him to telephone pole. The goat wasn't too happy about being left alone and was bleating his little heart out. He reminded me a bit of Sharkdog, who also has abandonment issues.

PhotoHunt: View

I'm participating something new. PhotoHunt, hosted by tnchick. Each week there is a theme and on Saturday tnchick and all of the participants post a photo along that theme. So, here's my first.

This week's theme is view and I've selected a photo of the view from our balcony. Brian actually took this photo, but I edited it. We make a good team.
