Last year Brian and I planned a Halloween party for the kids on the team, but it was kind of last minute and it basically consisted of watching the It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and decorating cookies. We're hosting a party again this year and I'd like to add a little pizazz -- maybe some games or something of that nature. But here's the problem: I live in Austria. You might think that the biggest problem with having a Halloween party in Austria is that Austria doesn't celebrate Halloween. However, there's a surprising amount of decorations and ghoulish paraphernalia to be found. No, here's the real problem: No Hobby Lobby. No Michael's. Not even a Wal-Mart. There's no where (that I've found) that has a good selection of products I could use to make games or crafts or whathaveyou. There is actually a store that had plastic jack-o-latern buckets last AUGUST, but silly me, I wasn't really thinking about a Halloween party at that time. When I went back to the store earlier this week in hopes of finding a few buckets tucked away somewhere, there was nothing Halloweenish to be found. However, the Christmas stuff was all out and, having learned my lesson from the Halloween in August situation, I bought a few things.
But enough rambling. I'm really here looking for suggestions. I have a craft planned, so I'm looking for a game or two. Any ideas come to mind? I don't mind making something -- I was planning on making beanbags for a toss game, but since I haven't been able to find the Halloween buckets, that game's out. I need a few ideas. Help me out here!

Have you checked out OBI? It's not a Hobby Lobby or Michaels, but they do usually have some seasonal decorations. Of course, that may be one of the places that already has Christmas items out! www.obi.at/at/
Thanks for the tip, mystery commenter. I checked out OBI today and while they didn't have the Halloween stuff I was looking for, I enjoyed roaming the store to see what they had. I've been in the store once or twice, but I've never looked the whole store over. That's the first place I've seen the foam craft paper.
The bean bag toss is a great idea. You don't have to throw it out cause you can't find the jack-0-latern buckets. Make the bean bags 'festive' - orange or black or both - throw into any bucket or box covered in paper or cloth. Decorate if desired. Here's some other ideas... adapt as needed - (1) musical chairs (Maybe to Monster Mash - get music off internet) (2) Turn your empty coke bottles into ghosts and use them for bowling pins. Knock them down with any ball. To make the ghosts, take a square piece of white cloth or crepe paper and drape it over a head (ball, wadded up paper, cotton stuffing, whatever). Attach this to the bottle using a rubber band under the 'head'. Draw a ghost face on the 'head'. (3) If you can get balloons - you can do any number of games with them... seeing how long they can keep it in the air, tying to their ankles and letting them stomp the opponents baloons, putting several in a confined space and just letting them stomp them. Orange can be decorated to look like Jack-o-laterns or white like ghosts. (4) you can always do the wet sponge throw. I'm sure Brian wouldn't mind lettng them all throw a wet sponge at him :).... I'm sure the kids will have fun... whatever you decide to do.
What about making a jack o lantern face on any old bucket using construction paper for the eyes, nose and mouth?
Pin the tail on the cat, using a free printable from the internet might be fun.
Halloween pictionary or charades would be fun if you can think of various Halloween related items to draw or act out.
Sounds like a lot of fun!
Yay! More suggestions. I love the ghost bowling and Halloween pictionary ideas. I think the kids are going to be impressed this year!
How fun! I want to come to your party! What about bobbing for apples? Another idea is making a pinata. You can make it the old fashioned way, out of a balloon, and paint it or drape it in crepe paper. Or you could make it out of a cereal box and decorate it from there. If it were me, I would put the open end toward the bottom and use minimal scotch tape since I believe they're pretty young kids. Have fun and be sure to post pix!
