What? You've never gone to another country for pizza? Surely I'm not the only one.
Last week, Kim, Amanda and I took a little road trip to Slovakia for two purposes: Tesco and Pizza Hut. In our defense, it was less than an hour from Vienna. Well, it would have been had we not lost our way in Bratislava. But when we finally found it, the clouds parted and a bright light shone down upon this glorious place.

Okay, so maybe I'm being a little melodramatic. But just a little. Imagine with me, if you will, what it would feel like to have no Target, no Wal-Mart, no supercenter of any kind. And then, suddenly after one year, you stumble upon a store the likes of which you thought only existed in your dreams (uh, or in the U.S.) It. Was. Magical.
Oh, and the pizza. Delicious. See Amanda and Kim -- they're giddy over our pizzas. I was quite excited as well, which is why the photo is not-so-in-focus.

Next time, I may just have to order an extra pizza or two to take home with me.
P.S., I know you're probably thinking, "Pizza Hut? Really?" But it's true what they say -- absence makes the heart grow fonder. If there were still Pizza Huts in Vienna (they closed several years ago), I probably wouldn't even think twice about it. But since the closest one is in Bratislava, man, I sure do miss Pizza Hut. :)

I completely know what you are saying. We would travel 3 hours to get Carl's Jr. when we lived in Mexico. Then, once we moved back to Texas, we just had to travel back to Mexico to get tortas! I can't imagine not having Target though. I had major withdrawals when we lived in Mexico, but luckily we went to the States often so I could get my fix!
I do love Tesco..."Every Little Bit Helps". I don't know if they say that there but it's the Tesco slogan in the UK. We did not discover Tesco until we had been there a few months. And it was rather difficult to go shopping there once we did. A 45 minute bus ride there and then carring all our groceries to the bus stop for the 45 minute ride back just usually didn't seem to make me want to go even to save a little money. Though I did on occasion have to go to get my "super" store fix. Plus there as an ASDA across the street and they are owned by Wal-mart and the sacks looked like walmart sacks!
We did that, too! But they had Little Caesar's pizza at Tesco, then. We got our Pizza Hut and KFC fixes in Budapest.
I don't know that I would drive to another country for Carl's Jr. Or for Little Caesars, for that matter. There's a KFC in the shopping center near our home -- along with Burger King and McDonald's.
I don't know Tesco's slogan in Slovakia. I haven't seen any of their advertisements. I don't blame you for not shopping there often when you were in England. I could probably take the bus to the Tesco in Bratislava in about 45 minutes.
I have this story.....when we first moved out of the US, we lived on Andros in the Bahamas. I will never forgot my first trip to Nassac where we all ate BigMacs and French fries! Patty in northern Alabama
