Potty talk

It's not completely unheard of to have to pay to use a public toilet in Vienna (and many other parts of the world). I used to think it was silly, but these days I don't mind so much. When you pay to go to use the facilities, you usually have cleaner facilities. On a recent potty break, I had a guy (the bathroom attendant) actually hold the door to the stall open for me to enter. Now that was a first, not to mention a little awkward.

And I think this was a first as well -- a self-cleaning toilet at Schönbrunn Palace. When you flush, the small arm extends and sprays water on the toilet seat while the seat rotates. How cool is that.

Wonder what the guy thought that opened the door for her? She must have taken a few extra minutes to get the video .... and a few extra flushes.

Amber -- I was in a private stall and my camera is very quiet. No one even noticed!

Mom -- The guy opened the door when I entered, not when I was done. I had to let myself out. Plus, these were two totally different bathroom experiences. And you could also start the seat-cleaning by waving your hand in front of a sensor, so I only flushed once, thank you very much.

That was probably one of the strangest things I have ever seen. I have never incountered such a thing but would very much like to some day.

Amy - I know what you mean. It's probably my least favorite chore - that's why I leave it for Brian. :)

Candace - I'll make sure you get a chance to go to the toilet if you visit us.
