Finally, the delivery we have all been anticipating. After long months of waiting and wondering, we finally caught our first glimpse.
What, were you expecting something else? Perhaps something like this...
That's right! There were two big deliveries today!
At approximately 12:30 this morning (Vienna-time) -- 5:30 p.m. yesterday Arlington-time -- my sister, her husband and their daughter welcomed a new addition to their family. (Just so there's no confusion -- Emmy was born on August 21st in Arlington, TX. However, it was already August 22nd in Vienna.) Here is Amiya with her new little sitter Emmy. I think she's a little nervous about holding such a small baby. And Emmy looks a little unsure as well.
As if that wasn't enough excitement for the day, at approximately 10:30 this morning, the container with all of our stuff we shipped from the U.S. arrived. Unfortunately, when the movers started unpacking it, we discovered that our belongings were at the very back. Well, the back when you're unloading -- I guess it's the front when you're loading. In any event, the movers decided to deliver everything else (for the other three families who moved to Vienna) and then come back to deliver our stuff.
Here it is, all unloaded. Now we just need to unpack.
One of the long-anticipated arrivals is our scooter. As I mentioned earlier, scooters are pretty popular around here. Unfortunately, we're going to have to buy a battery, get it registered, get a license and insurance and some other things before we can drive it, so it may just sit there for a while.
I have long planned to name my scooter (yes, like J.D., in Scrubs), but I haven't been able to decide on a good name. However, after surviving such a long journey, I think it's time that the scooter gets a name. So today I am christening her "Betty." Sure, the name would be a little cooler if Betty were black instead of red. ::Singing:: Whoa, Red Betty. Bam-ba-lam. Whoa, Red Betty. Bam-ba-lam. It just doesn't have the same ring to it. But, it's still a nice name. So here's to Betty! I'm glad she made it to Vienna!

Well I am glad your stuff all arrived and you have a whole new set of things that need to be done :) and grats on the new niece.
Personally, and I know it's too late and all, but I think CatchUp would have been a good name for a red scooter :) The whole play on words thing and all going on there...
Congratulations on both accounts! Make sure and tell Amber congrats for me!
I love your catchy name...I like the Red Betty song! Have fun unpacking!
YAY for the arrival of your adorable niece!
And YAY for the arrival of your stuff!
Have fun unpacking...
That is so exciting! Congratulations to Amber and Scott...Emmy is precious. And the arrival of your boxes ain't too shabby either - you must be relieved to finally get dishes again (along with all the rest of your stuff).
Eddie - I thought about asking for suggestions, but I didn't think I would get any.
Suzanne - I'll pass your message along. I don't know if Amber knows we're *talking* so much. She's not much of a blog reader. It's like she's busy or something.
Gina - Fortunately (for me), Brian gets to do most of the unpacking. Bad back and all.
Emily - Now that I have all those dishes, I feel like I should learn how to use the dishwasher. I'm a little leery of it. The landlord said something about adding salt to it? Things are just crazy here.
I'm glad to see that your stuff has all arrived. I guess we don't need to send you anything for a while...until you get that all unpacked it's just like Christmas every day! :)
Are you sure about the name of the scooter? Am I the only person that instantly recalls the TV show Ugly Betty when I hear the name Betty?
I am glad that things are going well for you. Congraulations on the new niece. That makes your Dad and Mom are getting older. It is amazing that after seeing you grow up you would marry Brian, who grew up at Mustang where Stan's Dad preached for 25 years. I do want to be on your mailing or E-mail list. I'll call your Mom to get your E-mail. God Bless you both and the other couples with you. I will put you on my daily prayer list.
GOD BLESS,
Kandi Gregg
Mom - I'm pretty sure Ugly Betty hasn't made it over to Europe, so I'm sticking with Betty. Plus, I'm sure there are plenty of lovely Bettys out there.
We have most of the stuff unpacked and put away. It hasn't been quite like Christmas, but it is nice to get our stuff. It has really filled out our apartment.
Kandi - I'm glad you found my little piece of the web out here. If you click on the "About Me" link on the right side of the page you'll find a link to my email on my profile.
Congrats on the niece, the shipment, and the scooters! Ed and I remember well what a relief it was when our stuff finally arrived from the States...and what a daunting task it was to unpack it all! I hope you guys are really starting to feel at home now that you have your own things around you!
Court - It is feeling a bit more homey around here. I thought we didn't ship that much, but it seems like a lot when you're unpacking!
