I was going to write this yesterday to follow the "what's not in Austria" post, but the deliveries of my niece and our stuff from the U.S. thwarted that plan. If you recall the previous post, you may be wondering whether there's anything you can send us. Or maybe I'm the only one thinking that. In any event, there's always something we can't get in Austria, so here are some things we would really enjoy from the U.S.
Don't feel any pressure to pop something in the mail today. I'm going to place a link to this post on the sidebar so you can refer to it when birthdays or Christmas roll around. This is mainly directed to those who generally buy us presents for such occasion. I'm not suddenly expecting a birthday gift from everyone just because I live overseas. :) Although... never mind.
I've separated the list into "one time" wants and "anytime" wants. If we receive something, I'll update the list. So whether you're going to be making a trip to Vienna and want to pack a little extra or you want to send something our way via post, here are some suggestions.
One-time Wants:
Any of the Nooma videos (You can buy these at Christian bookstores or online at http://www.nooma.com/) -- Except "Rain" (001), "Flame" (002), "You" (015), and "Today" (017)
Anytime Wants (i.e., foodstuff):
peanut butter -- creamy or crunchy (our favorite is the Great Value brand from Wal-Mart and Peter Pan, but anything works)
dark corn syrup (like Karo)
-------
P.S., I don't know why, but I don't like the idea of just posting our address out here. So if you don't have our address, you'll have to ask. There is a link to email me on my profile.

Great suggestions! Hopefully you'll get lucky & be able to cross it all off!
I'm glad you posted this, I was going to request a list if you hadn't. I was up all night trying to wrap my head around the tragedy of living without peanut butter, but I didn't want to send you a brand you don't like. Think of the disappointment of opening a box with much-longed-for peanut butter and discovering a brand you think is yucky!
Of course, now that I've made a big deal of wanting to send you peanut butter, I'll probably never get around to actually doing it.
Suzanne - Maybe so. I figure that over the next five years someone will eventually want to send us something. :)
Gina - I'm sorry I caused you such grief. I haven't tried the peanut butter here, but from what I've heard it's not worth trying. Plus, you can only get it in tiny jars. I don't know if peanut butter is worth shipping b/c it's so heavy. You may have to visit to deliver yourself. However, I also like the whipped peanut butter from Peter Pan (whipped = lighter = less shipping cost), but the last time I bought peanut butter (April? May?), Peter Pan was still off the shelves. I think it's supposed to be back now.

I forgot to include the craft books I've been eyeing, so I've already updated the list. :)
If anyone knows where to get the whipped Peter Pan please let me know. Ever since they stripped Peter Pan (and Good Value) out of the stores in February I haven't been able to find it. I had to throw 4 jars of Peter Pan out then.
I'll even buy Alisha some and send it to her if anyone can tell me where to find it.
Mom - I read online that Peter Pan should start appearing on shelves again this month. But then after a little more research, it looks like the whipped may not be back until 2008. The site www.peterpanpb.com says that Creamy and Crunchy are available and to watch for more varieties in 2008. Sorry to get your hopes up.
Ed and I are big fans of Nooma, as well. So far, we only have one, though, the one on silence vs. noise. (I think it's actually called "Noise.") Excellent stuff. From what Ed tells me, they are also available over here, with German subtitles though they're in English. Possible tool for future use?
Court - I think Noise was the first Nooma video that I saw. It's still one of my favorites. I knew the videos had German subtitles, but I didn't know you could get them over here.
