I was a little leery at first because the molasses and sugar where not mixing well. But once I threw the butter into the mix, things started shaping up. When I was finished with the dough, I could taste the molasses in it. However, after refrigerating the dough for a couple of hours the molasses taste was gone and it just tasted like good ol' chocolate chip cookie dough. This is the recipe I used, in case you want to give it a try.
Here's the finished product (on a lovely piece of Polish pottery). They turned out crisp around the edges and soft in the middle -- just like from the bakery.
And while we're in the kitchen, I'd like to show off these air-tight canisters I bought to store flour and sugar and such. Aren't they so cute!
And the colors go so well with the tiles in my kitchen! I may just have to leave them sitting on the counter.

Love the canister set and glad to hear that the cookie ingredients as well as the cookies turned out well.
cookies look Great! Makes me hungry..
Rhonda - I love the canisters too! I filled them with flour and sugar today. Unfortunately, they won't hold a full 1 kg bag. Guess I'll have to stick the rest in the freezer to keep it bug-free.
Mom - Cookies were great! They may have even rivaled Aunt Sue's famous chocolate chip cookies. Too bad I can't do a side-by-side comparison. :)
The cookies look delicious! Aren't you going to share?
I love the plate they're on! They had some Polish pottery on clearance at the base and I got a bunch, but it wasn't as pretty as that.
You have an Aunt Sue, too? Everyone should have an Aunt Sue.
Gina - I tried to share with our neighbors, but Brian would have none of that. (Actually, we weren't sure if knocking on someone's door was appropriate.)
I think the pattern on the plate is called Peacock. I saw a large pot at the Naschmarkt the other day and thought I really lucked into something, but it was a knock-off.
I've always been a fan of the Aunt Sue. Maybe everyone should have one.
Mmmm...I want that cookie! Can you make me one too, please? :)
